Clinical trials have demonstrated that Febuxostat has a superior ability to lower and maintain serum urate levels below 6 mg/dl compared to commonly used dosages of allopurinol (≥ 300 mg), achieving nearly complete elimination of gouty flares and resolution of baseline tophi, while also potentially preserving renal function in individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Formulation
Each tablet contains:
Febuxostat – 80 mg
Indication
Treatment of hyperuricemia in patients with gout; not recommended for treatment of asymptomatic hyperuricemia.
Dosage & Administration
40-80 mg once daily without regard to food or as prescribed by the physician.
