Formulation
Each capsule contains:
Omeprazole 40 mg
Indication
It is used in conditions where inhibition of gastric acid and secretion may be beneficial including aspiration syndromes, dyspepsia, erosive esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), benign gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, and hypersecretory conditions (e.g. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome).
Dosage & Administration
Dyspepsia: Usual dose of 20 mg daily for 2-4 weeks
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): Usual dose of 20 mg once daily for 4 weeks
Refractory esophagitis: 40 mg daily; Maintenance therapy after healing of esophagitis is 20 mg once daily.
Peptic ulcer disease: A single dose of 20 mg by mouth or 40 mg in severe cases
NSAID-associated ulceration: 20 mg once daily
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: Initial recommended dosage is 60 mg once daily or as prescribed by the physician
Prophylaxis of acid aspiration during anesthesia: 40 mg in the evening before surgery and 40 mg on the day of surgery, 2-6 hours before the procedure or as prescribed by the physician
